Autumn Term 2 - Week One - Friday 8th November 2024

If you woud be interested in reading more about the role or for details on how to apply, please click here.

Administration of Medication

As we head in to the winter months, if you know that your child will require Calpol or any form of medication on any given day, please ensure that you provide it to the school office and ensure that the morning dose is given before 8am to enable us to administer again at 12 noon.

Whilst we are happy to provide medication to children who become unwell at school, we do ask all families to provide the relevant medication, along with a completed Administration of Medication form which can be found here. Paper copies are also available from the school office.

Please can we remind families that any medications, including prescription medications are administered at midday. Please consider this when administering medications before school starts to ensure that sufficient time between doses has been applied.

Numbots & TTRS

A reminder about two brilliant apps we have for the children to be using at home to support with their maths learning: TimesTable Rock Stars and Numbots. We’ve noticed there hasn’t been much action on them at home lately, so we wanted to refresh your memory on why these apps are worth it!

Why bother?
Because they’re game-changers! TimesTable Rock Stars turns times table practice into something fun, competitive, and rewarding. Think rock star avatars, quick-fire games, and a boost to their number confidence. Meanwhile, Numbots takes the younger ones (and even older ones who need a refresher) on a journey through adding, subtracting, and building solid number bonds—all in a fun, robot-themed adventure.

What’s in it for your child?
Beyond being fun, these platforms help build crucial maths fluency. Mastering times tables and basic number skills is like giving them a superhero cape in the classroom—maths gets easier, faster, and more enjoyable.

Why do it at home?
While we use these tools at school, a little extra practice at home can make all the difference. Just 10 minutes a day could boost their speed, accuracy, and confidence massively. It’s the kind of thing that snowballs into better overall performance and a love of maths.

How to play
Both Numbots and TTRS is accessible either online:

Numbots

Times Tables Rock Stars

Or downloadable via Apple App Store or Google Play.

So, let’s power up the engagement and get those rock stars and robots out in full force at home. The best part? Your child might actually look forward to it (and maybe even challenge you to a game!).

We also run a weekly leaderboard at the end of each newsletter (take a look??), making it even more of a fun and engaging activity with some friendly competition across each year group.

If you need help logging in or accessing your child's account, please speak to your class teacher.

Happy practising!

Thank you Barbers & Barbells for your kind donation

A huge thank you to Barbers and Barbells in Ashley who recent held a fundraising event and have very kindly donated a sum of £150 to Hordle Primary School. This money will go towards new resources for the children.
