Summer Term 2 - Week 2 - Friday 12th June 2026

Staff News

We are very sad to advise that Mrs Gibbins who has been a Teaching Assistant with us for a very impressive 17 years will be taking early retirement at the end of this academic year. Mrs G has been a huge part of our school, most notably for her work in the Juniors and will be hugely missed by us all but the time has come to enjoy travelling and more family time. We know you will join us in sending all your very best wishes to Mrs G as she embarks upon her well deserved retirement.

We are delighted to announce that Mrs Sarah Rawlings will be joining the support staff team from September. Mrs Rawlings is a qualified teacher and comes with many years of experience across both primary and secondary school settings.

PATCH Mufti Reminder - Friday 19th June

Please be reminded that next Friday, 19th June is a mufti day for all children, in return for a bottle for the PATCH Summer Fair Bottle Tombola.

Uniform

We have recently had another influx of lost property with all named items being returned to children's classes.

We kindly ask all families to check jumpers their children have bought home recently, as we have a number of lost, named jumpers which have gone missing.

***

Spare Uniform Plea

As we approach the end of the school year, our spare uniform boxes are starting to look sparse. We kindly ask for any donations of old school uniform to help replenish our stocks (any unused items will be donated to the local Step Up Safe Space charity).

***

Underwear Donations

We also have low stocks of spare underwear (including socks) across all phases in school. Should you have any spare, unused underwear or wish to donate any, the school would be most grateful.

'Book with Legs' Donations

We are thrilled to see how popular our 'Book with Legs' initiative has been amongst our families. Due to it's high demand, our shelves are currently looking rather empty.

We kindly ask for any further donations families may have of any pre-loved books for Year R - Year 6 children.

If your child has recently borrowed from 'Book with Legs' and has now finished their book, we kindly ask that these are returned to school for the next person to enjoy.

Green Fingered Volunteers Needed!

Do we have any green fingered parents/grandparents who would like to volunteer their time to help spruce our flower beds and help with some weeding?

On this occasion, volunteer clearance (including DBS) is not required but is preferred if possible.

If you are able to help, please either send us an email to adminoffice@hordle.hants.sch.uk or come in to the school reception to discuss.

Recent FSM Updates

Following the recent government changes to FSM effective from September 2026, we have issued a letter to outline how this may affect families within the body of the iComms email. A copy of the letter can be found HERE.

Scopay Accounts - IMPORTANT

From September we will be moving bookings and payments for trips, Breakfast and After School clubs, Hordle Hub clubs and lunches from Scopay to Arbor.

In preparation for this, please can we ask parents to ensure that Scopay accounts are kept up to date with no excessive credits and that debts are promptly cleared over the next few weeks.

All accounts must have a zero balance at the end of the school day on the 22nd July.

*

Accounts with Available Credit

For any accounts which have a credit available on them, we are happy to move this credit to different accounts for your child e.g. from Breakfast Club to Trips to help use this credit up.

*

Arbor Parent App

If you have not already registered for access to the Arbor app it is essential that you are able to access this from September. Please email the school office if you require assistance with this.

We will be communicating with families on a regular basis to keep you well informed about the upcoming changes and advise you of any outstanding balances on current Scopay accounts.

Thank you for your consideration of this in the coming weeks as we head towards the end of the school year.

National 'Thank a Teacher' Day - Wednesday 17th June

On Wednesday 17th June, it is National Thank a Teacher Day. If there is any adult at Team Hordle that your children would like to send a kind message to then there is a little link here to an e-card HERE and this adult will get a kind message on Thank a Teacher day. We know that it brings a little smile to the faces of our grown ups if they receive one of these.

'The Big Future' Survey

The Children's Commissioner for England has launched 'The Big Future' survey to try and gather children's views on the changes they would like to see in their futures. If you would like to support your child with completing the online survey, then please follow the link to the survey below:

http://www.childrenscommissioner.gov.uk/thebigfuture

The Children's Commissioner wants to hear from children aged 0–18 from every background, in every part of the country, and your support will help make that possible.

Thank you for your support.

A Message From Hampshire Road Safety Team

(FAO Year 5 and Year 6 Families)

The Road Safety Team want to support the parents of your Year 5 & 6 children as they begin their transition to travelling more independently.

Most Year 7 students travel to school independently. For many, this might be their first independent journey, therefore we want to highlight the importance of making responsible choices when travelling to and from school.

To support this transition, we would ask that our Year 5 and Year 6 parents read the below:

Parent Road Safety Newsletter

It shares how you can assist your child with these next steps, whether that be giving your child the opportunity to begin to practice those independent journeys in Year 6, perhaps a short way from school or making that new journey to their secondary school at the start of Year 7.

The gate will be reopened at 9:10am.

For safeguarding reasons, we cannot have parents waiting on the school grounds until 9:10am.

FS & KS1 Sports Day

At the end of Sports Day, you may make your way to your child's class to collect them.

**********************

Spectators

Please can parents stand around the outside of the Daily Mile track or on the bank next to the ball court to view.

Several events will be taking place at once and the children will be moving around the field to participate.

Please note, the Daily Mile track will be in use on the day, so please ensure that you stand on the grass, not the track.

**********************

Parking

Please can we ask that you park respectfully in roads surrounding the school and if you are able to, please take the opportunity to walk to school.

In the event of cancellation due to weather, a decision will be made at the earliest opportunity.

**********************

Refreshments

PATCH will be serving refreshments during sports day. They will have teas/coffees and soft drinks for £1 and squash for 50p. Depending on the weather, ice lollies may also be available for £1 each!

Breakfast Club, After School Club, Dinners and Trips Debt

Please can we ask that parents/guardians ensure that all payments for dinners and any Breakfast Club or Den bookings are paid in advance.

There should be no debts run up on your accounts, which should always be kept at zero or in credit.

Due to our move to Arbor in September, please keep balances to £0.00 as much as possible.

Please be reminded that if debts exceed £10 on your child's account, we may have no option but to refuse bookings at Breakfast and After School clubs, or refuse to provide hot lunches, until accounts are settled.

Weekly emails are sent to advise of any outstanding balances but please can we remind parents that it is your responsibility to check your child's account and update payments accordingly.

***

As we head towards the end of the school year, a large majority of our children will be attending a school trip. We kindly request all families to ensure these balances are paid, as per the outlined payment dates, prior to your child attending the trip.

***

If you are experiencing financial difficulty and wish to discuss a payment plan for any costs relating to school, please request a confidential meeting with Mrs Rook, School Business Manager.

Thank you for your understanding in this matter.

Thank you for your cooperation.
