Spring Term 2 - Week 3 - Friday 13th March 2026

Reminder - INSET Day - Friday 20th March

Please be reminded that next Friday, 20th March is our final INSET day of the academic year. Therefore, both the school and nursery will be closed on this day.

We will be back in school as usual on Monday 23rd March for the final week of Spring term.

Important Notice - School Collections/Drop Off's

As an Eco School, we very kindly request that parents/guardians switch off their car engines when waiting outside the school.

We have received a number of complaints due to cars being left running and the fumes this has been creating.

Please respect our community and our environment.

Thank you for your cooperation.

Scopay Balances - Important Information

We are currently experiencing high levels of debt across dinner money, Breakfast and After School Club, which is taking a lot of administrative time to follow up and manage.

Please can we politely remind parents that dinner accounts should be kept in credit if your child has school lunches and Breakfast and After School Club bookings should be paid for in advance of taking place.

Please can we ask all families to check Scopay accounts and pay all outstanding balances up to and including 27th March. There is no need to pay for anything for Summer term until after the Easter break.

From Summer term, if debts exceed £10 on your child's account, we may have no option but to refuse bookings at Breakfast and After School clubs, or refuse to provide hot lunches, until accounts are settled.

Weekly emails are sent to advise of any outstanding balances but please can we remind parents that it is your responsibility to check your child's account and update payments accordingly.

If you are experiencing financial difficulty and wish to discuss a payment plan for any costs relating to school, please request a confidential meeting with Mrs Rook, School Business Manager.

Thank you for your understanding in this matter.

ABM Allergy Notice

Please note that whilst ABM Catering do not use any products that are sesame based or contain sesame, the bakery products that they use are baked in a factory that does process sesame.  Therefore we cannot guarantee that the bakery products will not contain traces of sesame.

Should your child have a sesame allergy or any other allergy/dietary requirement, please speak with a member of Team Office regarding how to put a special diet in place for your child.

RESCHEDULED: School Hedgerow Planting Day - Monday 16th March

We are delighted to share that our Eco Warriors have been successful in securing a generous donation of hedging saplings from the Woodland Trust to help enrich our school grounds.

Following on from our recent communication, the children will now be participating in their planting day on the rescheduled date of Monday 16th March, when we hope every child will have the opportunity to help plant a section of our new hedge along the boundary with the churchyard.

Creating a natural hedge will bring a number of benefits to our school environment, including increasing biodiversity, enhancing our grounds and contributing to our eco-friendly goals.

To help with the planting, your child is invited to bring a named pair of wellies to school on Monday 16th March. Please send them in a labelled plastic bag so that muddy boots can be stored separately afterwards. Children will change back into their school shoes for the remainder of the day.

We are very grateful to the Woodland Trust for supporting our environmental journey, and we look forward to watching our new hedge grow.

Parent Forum - Monday 23rd March

(Deadline for comments/discussions topics is Wednesday 18th March)

We will be running our next Parent Forum on Monday 23rd March at 9:00am in the Acorn Room.

This is an opportunity to express your views/make suggestions for our Senior Leadership Team on any matters relating to school. This could include (but is not limited to) curriculum, school activities, uniform, trips and school events.

We would love to see as many of you there as possible. In order to prepare for this event, please complete the form on the link below with your suggested topics for discussion:

Parent Forum Discussion Topics

Please can we ask that questions posed for discussion at the Parent Form are broad in nature and not specifically related to your child. These questions are best answered by your child's class teacher who will be happy to discuss them at a mutually convenient time. Please email them directly in the first instance.

Even if you cannot attend on the day but you wish for a particular subject to be discussed, please complete this form and give us as much information as possible.

This form will close for comments on Wednesday 18th March to allow the Headteacher to discuss issues raised with the wider team if necessary.

All families are welcome to attend and/or provide feedback/suggestions using the link above.

We look forward to welcoming you.

Choir, Year 6 Leavers and Class Photos - Thursday 26th March

These will be taking place on Thursday 26th March '26.

Important points to note for photo day:

♦ Children must wear full school uniform. This includes ensuring your child is wearing black shoes or trainers, wearing their school jumper (no school hoodies) and long hair must be tied up.

♦ If your child has PE or is due to attend an event or an after school sports club on this day, please send their PE kit into school with them in a named bag.

♦ The Choir photograph will be taken at 9am prompt - if your child attends this club, please ensure they arrive at school in good time.

♦ Proofs will be sent home with the children as soon as we receive them and ordering and payment will once again be online.

Team Nest and Team Wild's Charity Cake Sale

Thank you to all of the families who purchased delicious treats from Team Hordle Explorers Nursery's charity cake sale last week. We are delighted to share that a total of £113.52 was raised for their class charity, LimbBo Foundation.

Thank you everyone for your ongoing support.

2026/27 INSET Days

We are pleased to publish our INSET days for 2026/27. Please see below:

• Tuesday 1st September

• Friday 23rd October

• Monday 2nd November

• Monday 4th January

• Friday 5th March

We have been mindful to place INSET DAYS on Mondays and Fridays, allowing for three day weekends and trust that having these dates in advance will be useful in being able to make the most of family time together where possible.

As you know, we continue to work hard to improve attendance at Hordle CE Primary School and wish to remind families that, in line with guidance, term time holidays will not be authorised.

Parents are strongly advised by the Government and Local Authority to avoid taking children out of school in term time because of the disruption it causes to their education.

For further information regarding penalty notices and how the system works, please read our useful leaflet HERE.
