♦ If your child has PE or is due to attend an event or an after school sports club on this day, please send their PE kit into school with them in a named bag.

♦ The Choir photograph will be taken at 9am prompt - if your child attends this club, please ensure they arrive at school in good time.

School Hedgerow Planting Day - Thursday 12th March

We are delighted to share that our Eco Warriors have been successful in securing a generous donation of hedging saplings from the Woodland Trust to help enrich our school grounds.

With the saplings now safely delivered, we are excited to begin planning our community planting day. This will take place on Thursday 12th March, when we hope every child will have the opportunity to help plant a section of our new hedge along the boundary with the churchyard.

Creating a natural hedge will bring a number of benefits to our school environment, including increasing biodiversity, enhancing our grounds and contributing to our eco-friendly goals.

To help with the planting, your child is invited to bring a named pair of wellies to school on Thursday 12th March. Please send them in a labelled plastic bag so that muddy boots can be stored separately afterwards. Children will change back into their school shoes for the remainder of the day.

We are very grateful to the Woodland Trust for supporting our environmental journey, and we look forward to watching our new hedge grow.

2026/27 INSET Days

We are pleased to publish our INSET days for 2026/27. Please see below:

• Tuesday 1st September

• Friday 23rd October

• Monday 2nd November

• Monday 4th January

• Friday 5th March

We have been mindful to place INSET DAYS on Mondays and Fridays, allowing for three day weekends and trust that having these dates in advance will be useful in being able to make the most of family time together where possible.

As you know, we continue to work hard to improve attendance at Hordle CE Primary School and wish to remind families that, in line with guidance, term time holidays will not be authorised.

Parents are strongly advised by the Government and Local Authority to avoid taking children out of school in term time because of the disruption it causes to their education.

For further information regarding penalty notices and how the system works, please read our useful leaflet HERE.

PATCH Bag2School - Bag Collection

We are delighted to share that Team PATCH managed to raise a fantastic total of £142.80 from the recent Bag2School collection.

Thank you to all of the families who so kindly donated. We will keep you updated regarding future collection dates.

New Forest District Council (NFDC) Resident Surveys

New Forest District Council (NFDC) is calling on residents to take part in two surveys aimed at gathering evidence for the ongoing Local Plan review.

The surveys, one focused on open spaces and the other on play spaces, are now open for feedback until 4 March 2026.

Residents are encouraged to let NFDC know how they use and experience a wide range of open spaces across New Forest District (outside the National Park). This includes areas like parks and recreation grounds, village greens, allotments, cemeteries, woods, and heathlands.

Responses will inform decisions about the management and future protection of these areas.

NFDC is also seeking feedback on residents’ experiences of local play areas, including equipped playgrounds, wheeled play areas such as skate parks and BMX pump tracks, multi-use games areas, and natural play areas.

Insights gathered will help guide future decisions on play provision across the district and contribute to the Local Plan review.

Both the open spaces and play surveys are available online from 10 February to 4 March 2026.

The open spaces survey is available at:
https://newforest.govocal.com/en-GB/projects/open-spaces-survey

The play survey is available at:
https://newforest.govocal.com/en-GB/projects/play-spaces-survey

Many thanks in advance for your input.

Any questions please contact NFDC Planning Policy Team policyandplans@NFDC.gov.uk
