Spring Term 1 - Week 6 - Friday 13th February 2026

Reminder - No Mr Ken Today (Friday 27th February)

Please be reminded that there will be no Mr Ken on duty at the usual pick up time of 3:25pm today.

If your child is not attending the PATCH disco and will be collected at the normal time, please ensure you take extra care when walking home and/or driving in proximity of the school.

Thank you for helping us keep our children and local community safe.

World Book Day - Friday 6th March!

Team Hordle will be celebrating World Book Day on Friday 6th March, taking part in a joyful celebration of all things literary.

There is no set theme this year and children are invited to attend school dressed as their favourite character from any fictional or non fictional book or simply in their own clothes, should they prefer.

Please remember that costumes do not need to be expensive and can be created at home using what you already have. Please find some 'dressing up' ideas/solutions from World Book Day here.

Our kitchen team will also be offering a special World Book Day menu. Please see below for full details.

***

Ali Sparkes Visit

We will also be welcoming local children's author, Ali Sparkes, to Team Hordle! Ali will very kindly be signing copies of her books for our children so don't forget to bring your favourite with you!

If you are bringing in a copy of your Ali Sparkes book from home, please can we ask that all books are clearly named. Children are welcome to bring their books in during the week and leave in their tray to ensure they are in school for Ali's visit.

***

World Book Day 'Book Cover' Competition

Children are invited to recreate a book cover for a book of their choice. Please bring your entries into school on Thursday 5th March for judging. We can’t wait to see what the children come up with!

Further details can be found in our World Book Day Letter HERE.

***

World Book Day Book Tokens

Did you know? Nearly 1million children in the UK don’t have a book of their own.

The World Book Day book tokens have now been distributed to classes and will be coming home with your child this evening. We are pleased to share that tokens can be redeemed at the following retailers:

Tesco, New Milton

Waterstones, Lymington

The Imaginarium, Lymington

TG Jones, Lymington

Sainsbury's, Christchurch

The Works, Christchurch

Bookends Book Shop and Art Centre, Christchurch

Families will be able to claim their tokens for between 12 February and 15 March 2026.

Please note, only one token can be used per transaction.

***

Electronic Book Tokens

World Book Day have also introduced electronic book tokens which can be found HERE. The book token barcode can either be scanned from your phone/tablet screen or printed out and shown in-store. Please check if your local bookseller can accept the barcode on mobile devices before visiting.

Foundation Stage Learning Reviews (FS Only) - Bookings are Live!

Face-to-face Learning Reviews for Team FS will take place this term, on Wednesday 18th March and Thursday 19th March.

We will once again be using SchoolCloud which acts as a platform for hosting our online virtual Learning Reviews. This allows you to choose your own appointment times with teachers and you will receive an email confirming your appointments - please do keep a note of your appointment time but just in case, you will receive a reminder notification on the day.

Bookings will be open from today, Friday 27th February until Wednesday 11th March at 12pm, when the system will close.

As learning reviews are in place to benefit your child(ren)'s learning, we strongly encourage parents/guardians to book a learning review.

Please click here to access the booking system to book your child's appointment.

Please note, the system will only allow you to book one appointment per child. If you wish to invite one additional parent to join the meeting virtually, you may do so by following these instructions. We highly recommend reading the instructions and watching the short video guide, so you know how to use the system and to familiarise yourselves with what will happen on the day.

For split families, if you are having problems booking an appointment, please email the school office a member of the team will be able to assist.

***

Additional Info:

♦ Timeslots on the day are managed automatically by the SchoolCloud system and are therefore strictly limited to your allotted time.

♦ At the end of your Learning Review the session will automatically end, this cannot be manually overridden.

♦ Please ensure that you log in giving yourself time to test your camera and audio so that you have the maximum time with your child's teacher.

♦ Bookings are made via SchoolCloud. You will receive a booking confirmation, as well as a subsequent, on the day reminder from SchoolCloud directly.

♦ Please make a note of your child's date/time as we are very restricted with appointment availability, should you miss your review.

Parent Forum - Monday 23rd March

We will be running our next Parent Forum on Monday 23rd March at 9:00am in the Acorn Room.

This is an opportunity to express your views/make suggestions for our Senior Leadership Team on any matters relating to school. This could include (but is not limited to) curriculum, school activities, uniform, trips and school events.

We would love to see as many of you there as possible. In order to prepare for this event, please complete the form on the link below with your suggested topics for discussion:

Parent Forum Discussion Topics

Please can we ask that questions posed for discussion at the Parent Form are broad in nature and not specifically related to your child. These questions are best answered by your child's class teacher who will be happy to discuss them at a mutually convenient time. Please email them directly in the first instance.

Even if you cannot attend on the day but you wish for a particular subject to be discussed, please complete this form and give us as much information as possible.

All families are welcome to attend and/or provide feedback/suggestions using the link above.

We look forward to welcoming you.

New Forest District Council (NFDC) Resident Surveys

New Forest District Council (NFDC) is calling on residents to take part in two surveys aimed at gathering evidence for the ongoing Local Plan review.

The surveys, one focused on open spaces and the other on play spaces, are now open for feedback until 4 March 2026.

Residents are encouraged to let NFDC know how they use and experience a wide range of open spaces across New Forest District (outside the National Park). This includes areas like parks and recreation grounds, village greens, allotments, cemeteries, woods, and heathlands.

Responses will inform decisions about the management and future protection of these areas.

NFDC is also seeking feedback on residents’ experiences of local play areas, including equipped playgrounds, wheeled play areas such as skate parks and BMX pump tracks, multi-use games areas, and natural play areas.

Insights gathered will help guide future decisions on play provision across the district and contribute to the Local Plan review.

Both the open spaces and play surveys are available online from 10 February to 4 March 2026.

The open spaces survey is available at:
https://newforest.govocal.com/en-GB/projects/open-spaces-survey

The play survey is available at:
https://newforest.govocal.com/en-GB/projects/play-spaces-survey

Many thanks in advance for your input.

Any questions please contact NFDC Planning Policy Team policyandplans@NFDC.gov.uk
