Spring Term 1 - Week 4 - Friday 30th January 2026

Team Hedgehog's Charity Cake Sale - Today!

Team Hedgehog will be holding it's charity cake sale TODAY to raise funds for their class charity, Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance.

If you are able to help in selling the cakes please come to the office at 3:15pm today.

What to do if your child is absent

Please can we remind parents/guardians of our schools absence procedures should your child be unwell:

♦ Contact us as soon as possible (and before 9.30am at the latest) on the first day of absence; telephone (via the schools absence line), email or visit the school office
♦ Advise us on the nature of your child’s absence. Please note that in the event of sickness and/or diarrhoea, the exclusion period is 48 hours since the last bout of illness
♦ Update the school daily on subsequent days absence unless advised otherwise.

If your child is absent and we have not heard from you by 9.30am at the latest, we will telephone you and any other contacts that have been provided to us to confirm your child’s whereabouts. This is because we have a safeguarding duty to ensure your child’s safety as well as their regular school attendance. A child not attending school is considered a safeguarding matter. This is why information about the cause of any absence is always required.

Please note, if no reason for absence is received before 12pm, it is a safeguarding requirement for us to visit the family home to ascertain your child’s wellbeing.

***

Illness Exclusion Periods

Please find guidance on exclusion periods for common illnesses HERE.

Please help us in minimising the risk of spreading bugs and keeping our children safe.

School Drop Off/Collection

Please do not park or pull up on the yellow zig zags outside school at any time.

We have received further complaints that parents are blocking the entrance to Nursery Close (opposite school) and double parking which means people cannot get out of their driveways to go to work, or turn safely into/out of the close. This poses significant danger to the children getting out of these cars and to those who may be walking to school!

Please can we remind parents and carers to be considerate when parking at drop off and pick up times on roads surrounding the school.

Please ensure that you only park on public roads and never block access to someone's property or create an obstruction to the emergency services.

We also kindly remind families not to park in the front car park, unless otherwise agreed with the school in advance (this includes using the front car park as a turning point).

For those needing to cross the road, to further support Mr Ken in keeping you all safe, please can we ask that all parents use the crossroads to cross, not walk across the road directly outside school.

For parents/guardians wishing to complain of parking offences, please contact our local PCSO HERE, including photos where necessary.

Please help us in keeping our children and community safe.

Unwanted Gift Donations

Team PATCH are kindly asking for donations of any unwanted gifts/items for upcoming Special Person's events.

This could be anything from body wash sets to candles, slippers to scarves, craft/colouring sets to toys - all items are welcome!

We only ask that they are within their original packaging and still sealed, where possible.

Please can all donations be handed in to the school office.

Thank you for your ongoing support with PATCH events.

Team PATCH have organised our next Bag2School collection for Tuesday 24th February.

Bags can be dropped off to the front school car park after school drop off from MIDDAY Monday 23rd February and no later than 9am on Tuesday 24th February.

Please ensure items are securely placed within a bag (and not overflowing - any bag can be used) and please place the bags under the provided tarpaulin to protect all clothing from the rain. This is extremely important as wet clothes will not be collected and unfortunately, we will be forced to dispose of them

As well as clothing, Bag2School also accepts items such as paired shoes, hats or bags. For a full list on what you are able to donate on this occasion, please click HERE.

Thank you, as always, for your ongoing support!

Important Date - Parent Forum

For those wishing to attend, our next parent forum will be held on Monday 23rd March at 9:00am.

All families are welcome to attend.

Further detail will be shared in due course.
