Spring Term 1 - Week 2 - Friday 16th January 2026

Team Badger Charity Cake Sale -

Today!

Please join us at school pick up today, Friday 16th January, for Team Badger's Charity Cake Sale all in aid of their class charity, 'Born Free Foundation'. Please bring small change with you.

We look forward to seeing you there!

VIP Guest, Award Winning Ali Sparkes will be coming to Team Hordle!

Dear Parents and Carers,

We are delighted to announce that we will be welcoming a local, award-winning author to the school on Friday 6th March as part of our World Book Day celebrations. This is a really special opportunity for the children and we hope it will inspire many of them to keep reading and to enjoy writing, too.

Ali Sparkes, born in Southampton, is the proud author of the Shapeshifter Series and winner of the Blue Peter Book of the Year Award for her novel Frozen in Time. She will be running workshops with children from Year 1 to Year 6, sharing how she became a writer and offering a unique insight into the world of storytelling.

Throughout the day, children will also have the chance to take part in a book-signing event. This will be a rare opportunity for a personal meet-and-greet with Ali and for children to have one of her books signed. You are, of course, very welcome to send your child in with a book you have purchased yourselves.

We are hoping to run an after-school book sale ahead of the signing. We will do our very best to source a selection of Ali Sparkes’ books; however, we know you will appreciate that acquiring stock at an affordable cost is not always easy. As a result, the books available will all be dependent on what we are able to obtain prior to the day.

Yours sincerely,

Mrs Marchant and Miss Trim

English Leaders

Board and Card Game Request

Due to the current poor wet weather, the children are sadly having to spend more time inside for wet breaks and/or lunchtimes.

We are therefore looking to increase our variety of fun indoor activities for the children to enjoy such as board games like Snakes and Ladder, Chess/Draughts or Frustration or any card games such as Uno.

If you have any suitable games at home, suitable from FS to Year 6, please email adminoffice@hordle.hants.sch.uk.

Thank you in advance for your support.

Year R Log Donation Request

The Year R team are kindly asking for further help, this time in the shape of logs. These logs will be used for our Year R's outside area, as places where our Reception pupils can sit and perch.

If this is something which you may be able to support with, please email adminoffice@hordle.hants.sch.uk.

Thank you as always!

Upcoming Charity Cake Sale - Team Hedgehog!

Team PATCH have organised our next Bag2School collection for Tuesday 24th February.

Bags can be dropped off to the front school car park after school drop off from MIDDAY Monday 23rd February and no later than 9am on Tuesday 24th February.

Please ensure items are securely placed within a bag (and not overflowing - any bag can be used) and please place the bags under the provided tarpaulin to protect all clothing from the rain. This is extremely important as wet clothes will not be collected and unfortunately, we will be forced to dispose of them

As well as clothing, Bag2School also accepts items such as paired shoes, hats or bags. For a full list on what you are able to donate on this occasion, please click HERE.

Thank you, as always, for your ongoing support!
