School Council Announcement

We’re very excited to announce that our new School Council has been chosen! The School Council is a group of pupils from across the school who have been elected by their classmates to help make our school an even better place to learn and play.

Our councillors will be working together to share ideas, listen to suggestions from their classmates, and help plan projects and events throughout the year. They’ll also take part in meetings with Miss Trim to discuss ways we can improve our school community.

Congratulations to all of our new School Council members - we’re proud of you and can’t wait to see the fantastic ideas you will bring to life!

Keep an eye on future newsletters to find out what the School Council is working on next. We look forward to seeing you at some upcoming fundraising events.

*Please Note, Change of Date*

Bag2School Reminder - Friday 7th November

Help our school raise funds by donating your unwanted, quality items!

Team PATCH have organised our first Bag2School collection of the year, which will now be taking place on Friday 7th November.

Bags can be dropped off to the front school car park from the afternoon of Thursday 6th November and no later than 9am on Friday 7th November.

?? Please place the bags under the provided tarpaulin to protect all clothing from the rain. This is extremely important as wet clothes will not be collected and unfortunately, we will be forced to dispose of them ??

As well as clothing, Bag2School also accepts items such shoes, hats or bags. For a full list on what you are able to donate, please click here.

Thank you, as always, for your ongoing support!

If you/your child wish to opt out of this survey, please complete THIS FORM before Friday 7th November as surveys will take place the following week.

Christmas Mobiles Homework

It's that wonderful time of year where we ask families to prepare a Christmas mobile together, ready to be displayed in our hall for the festive period. We can't wait to see your creations and bring this Hordle tradition to life this year!

Using two hangers, joined and decorated with coloured tape or tinsel, we ask that you and your family create a beautiful Christmas mobile together. The one shown below is just an example, we are sure that you will have many wonderful and creative ideas.

Your finished mobile masterpiece must come in to school on the morning of Monday 1st December at 9am so that it is ready to be displayed in the hall for the start of advent. We are looking forward to a spectacular display in the hall again this year.

This is not a compulsory project but is a wonderful Hordle tradition for everyone! Have fun creating!

Please ensure all mobiles are labelled and clearly named so that they can be returned at the end of term.

Have fun, Team!

Poppy Appeal

Please be aware that from Wednesday 22nd October - Friday 7th November, Upper Junior children will be going around school, offering children (and families) the opportunity to purchase poppies and other poppy appeal merchandise. We suggest a minimmum donation of £1 per item.

Thank you for your support.

Allergies in School - Nut and Pesto Free School

As per recent communications to families, please can we remind parents that we are a strictly a nut and sesame free school and nursery. We have several children who have severe nut allergies so we ask that you respect this if your child brings a packed lunch from home or a snack for an after-school club. As a reminder the following foods contain nuts/sesame and should not be included in children's lunch boxes.

♦ Battenburg

♦ Bakewell tarts

♦ Madeleines

♦ Hummus

♦ Chocolate hazelnut spread

♦ Many cereal bars

Pesto

Please note that while pine nuts are not strictly a nut, we have noticed that many brands of pesto have started to include nuts as an ingredient. It is therefore impossible for us to know if the pesto in a child's packed lunch contains nuts or not. As a result, we are asking that you DO NOT include pesto in your child's packed lunch or snacks.

Thank you for your ongoing cooperation.

BBC Young Writers Competition

The BBC’s annual young writers’ competition is open for entries and we would LOVE Team Hordle to get involved!

Pupils are encouraged to write a story they would love to read themselves which is no longer than 500 words. There are two age categories: 5-7 and 8-11 year-olds and spelling, punctuation and grammar are not marked - as has always been the case for 500 Words, it's all about our writers' brilliant creativity.

There are many prizes to be won, as well as each winner taking home a bundle of books, with the gold winners also winning 500 books for our school library!

50 finalists will be invited to a star-studded grand final at Windsor Castle in February 2026, which will once again be hosted by Her Majesty Queen Camilla. If that's not enough, each winner will also see their story be read aloud by a superstar celebrity on TV, which will be shown as part of a special 500 Words programme with The One Show in early March.

What other reason do we need to give for our young writers to share their passion for literature and reading and get writing?!

All entries to the competition must be submitted via the BBC Young Writers Competition website HERE.

We would also LOVE to see your stories, so please ensure you also email us a copy to adminoffice@hordle.hants.sch.uk.

Entries close on Friday 7th November 2025 at 9pm.
