Summer Term 2 - Week Four - Friday 27th June 2025

Staff Leaver

We are very sorry to say that Mr Harry Willis-Finn will be leaving us today to embark on a new adventure. We would like to thank him for his contribution to Team Hordle and wish him the very best of luck.

To confirm, he will be continuing to run our after school rugby club every Tuesday.

New Catering Provider - ABM Catering

We are excited to announce that we will be moving to a new catering provider from September 2025, with ABM Catering taking over responsibility for providing hot lunches to our school.

ABM pride themselves on fresh ingredients, locally sourced produce and are commited to providing hot lunches for all children in primary schools, and particularly for those eligible for free lunches under the Universal Infant Free School Meals (all YR - 2 pupils) and Free School Meals programmes.

Great news - we have secured a contract that will enable us to reduce the cost of a hot meal from £3.20 to £2.85 per day, so we hope that you will see not only improved quality but at better value too!

We will be sharing menus and other important information with families soon and we have lots of exciting plans for events over the course of the Autumn term and beyond, some of which parents will be invited to attend.

In the meantime, we would ask anyone with a special diet to complete the below form so that your child's personalised menu can be set up, ready for the start of September.

Special diet request form

Please look out for more information to come but in the meantime we look forward joining with other local schools in a move to ABM.

Road Safety Support

A majority of Year 7 students travel to school independently and for many, this might be their first independent journey. We therefore wanted to highlight the importance of the making responsible choices when travelling to and from school.

Hamsphire County Council wish for us to share THIS document with parents to assist with their children’s next steps, whether that be giving their children the opportunity to begin to practice those independent journeys in Year 6 (or earlier), perhaps a short way from school or making that new journey to their secondary school at the start of Year 7.

July Year 1 - Year 6 Learning Reviews

Thank you to all families who have now booked their learning review appointments.

If you have not yet booked your appointment, these appointments have now been manually allocated.

A reminder of the timetable can be found below.

- You will receive an email reminder directly from SchoolCloud 1 hour before your booked slot, which will include a further link to your appointment

Learning Review Survey

Following feedback at recent parent forums, we wish to invite all families to complete the below survey, helping us to obtain the consensus regarding face to face learning reviews vs online learning reviews.

Learning Review Survey

Please note, we require 100% of families to respond to this survey to ensure we have accurate feedback to consider.

Closing date: Friday 18th July

Important Reminder - Road Closure

Please be aware that due to the ongoing construction of the Everton Road housing development, the section of Everton Road which is currently closed is expected to be ongoing until Sunday 13th July. Please be mindful that this means that Everton Road will be closed for the majority of Summer term. Please click HERE for further information.

Furthermore, as per the recent email sent to families, Winchester County Council have advised us that parents, school staff and members of the community should not be moving any of the road signs that are currently in place advising of road closures and diversions. To do so would mean that the person moving them would be personally liable should an accident or incident occur.

Should you have any concerns or queries regarding the current road closures, please direct these to National Highways.

Thank you for helping us keep our families and local community safe.

Help us win new equipment!

The Southern Daily Echo are running an exciting competition, designed to bring our community together and support local education.

By collecting tokens, you can help Hordle Primary School win fantastic prizes! 1st Prize: £1,000 Amazon Voucher. 2nd Prize: £500 Amazon Voucher. All participating schools will receive a runner up prize to use as a raffle prize in future school events or fundraising.
