Last day of Term - Tuesday 22nd July - 1pm Finish

A reminder that school will finish at 1pm on last day of term, Tuesday 22nd July.

Den will be open until 5pm and this can be booked via Scopay.

Hot Weather Reminders

We have received an Amber alert for hot weather this coming week. Therefore, we would like to highlight the importance of adhering to the following:

  • Your child is sent to school with a named sun hat
  • Sunscreen is applied to children before school (application of a 'Once' type cream provides your child with adequate protection throughout the day)
  • Your child comes to school with a water bottle (named) - it is also important that children remain hydrated throughout the day, so if your child is having a packed lunch, please make sure you enclose a drink bottle in their lunchbox, as well as giving them one for the classroom
  • For children who are having a packed lunch, please pop in an ice pack to keep their lunch cool
  • As children are likely to remove their jumpers more frequently, please ensure all uniform is clearly named

Safer Schools Warning - Jeffy

Please be aware that we have been notified of a puppet-style character appearing on Youtube called 'Jeffy'. All Hampshire schools have been notified by the 'Safer Schools' team that parents should be mindful the puppet Jeffy has been associated with inappropriate content online including: nudity, violence and inappropriate themes. Parents are urged to please continue with safe online practices at home and supervise what children are accessing when on devices. Please see picture of Jeffy below.

Children's Absence/Holiday

What to do if your child is absent

Please can we kindly remind parents/guardians of our schools absence procedures:

- Contact us as soon as possible (and before 9.30am at the latest) on the first day of absence; telephone (via the schools absence line), email or visit the school office
- Advise us on the nature of your child’s absence. Please note that in the event of sickness and/or diarrhoea, the exclusion period is 48 hours since the last bout of illness
- Update the school daily on each subsequent day(s) absence unless advised otherwise.

If your child is absent and we have not heard from you by 9.30am at the latest, we will telephone you and any other contacts that have been provided to us to confirm your child’s whereabouts. This is because we have a safeguarding duty to ensure your child’s safety as well as their regular school attendance.

A child not attending school is considered a safeguarding matter. This is why information about the cause of any absence is always required.

Please note, if no reason for absence is received before 12pm, it is a safeguarding requirement for us to visit the family home to ascertain your child’s wellbeing.

*****

What to do if my child is late

If you think your child will be arriving late at school please can we remind parents/guardians of our school late arrival procedures:

- Contact us as soon as possible (and before 9.30am at the latest); telephone (via the schools absence line), email or visit the school office
- Advise us on the nature of your child’s late arrival and a choice of lunch for the day, please note lunch orders have to be placed by 9:30am for the kitchen to have enough preparation time
- Sign in at the front office at the time of arrival (registers in the classrooms are closed after 9am)
- Parents are unable to escort their child to the classroom if they arrive once the gates are closed.

*****

Holiday in Term Time?

Parents are strongly advised by the Government and Local Authority to avoid taking children out of school in term time because of the disruption it causes to their education.

We ask that if parents/guardians need to take children out of school, to please notify the school of all planned absences by completing an absence request form. Whilst your request may not be authorised, it will mean that we know not to worry about your child's welfare and they will not be treated as a missing child.

Please note, if your child has unauthorised absences for 10 sessions (1 day is 2 sessions) or more in a 100 session period, you will be liable to a fixed penalty notice and a fine.

More information can be found here on the Gov website.

If you have any queries, please speak to the school office.

*****

If your child will not be attending Hub Club/Den Bookings

We understand that plans can change last minute. If this is the case but your child is meant to be attending a Hub Club or Den, please ensure you inform the office that they will not be attending. You can do this by either visiting the reception, calling us on 01425 611657 or emailing adminoffice@hordle.hants.sch.uk.

If we have a child unaccounted for at the end of the day, we will start procedures as per our Missing Child Policy, which may result in us making a 999 call and reporting the child missing and providing all personal details of the pupil concerned. We will continue to carry out all other missing child procedures as per our policy, in addition to the above, which includes sweeps of school, local area and all known contacts and possible friendships.

For this reason, and in order that we do not unnecessarily waste police time, it is absolutely VITAL that you also tell us if there is a change in pick up procedures or if your child is not going to attend a club that they would usually be expected to attend.

PATCH Tea Towel / Coaster Reminder

A reminder that all completed forms to purchase the recent PATCH tea towel and/or coaster must be returned to the PATCH postbox by Wednesday 25th June.

For any misplaced forms, please contact patchcontact@yahoo.com.

Any late orders could miss the print deadline.

July Year 1 - Year 6 Learning Reviews

Thank you to all families who have now booked their learning review appointments.

If you have not yet booked your appointment, appointments will be manually allocated by Wednesday 25th June.

As learning reviews are in place to benefit your child(ren)'s learning, we strongly encourage parents/guardians to book a learning review.

Please click here to access the booking system to book your child's appointment.

WILVERLEY PARENTS

Please note that specific times and dates for appointments with Miss Dawson have been specified for Year 5 and Year 6 separately. Please ensure that you book the correct day for your child. Any bookings made for the incorrect day will be moved and you may lose your preferred time slot. This is so that Year 6 parents have the chance to review and discuss SATs results.

*****

Please note, the system will only allow you to book one appointment per child. If you wish to invite one additional parent to join the meeting virtually, you may do so by following these instructions. We highly recommend reading the instructions and watching the short video guide, so you know how to use the system and to familiarise yourselves with what will happen on the day.

For split families, if you are having problems booking an appointment, please email Miss Blatch in the office (lauren.blatch@hordleprimary.co.uk) who can assist further.

Additional Info:

- Timeslots on the day are managed automatically by the SchoolCloud system and are therefore strictly limited to your allotted time.

- At the end of your Learning Review the session will automatically end, this cannot be manually overridden.

- Please ensure that you log in giving yourself time to test your camera and audio so that you have the maximum time with your child's teacher.

- Bookings are made via Schoolcloud. You will receive a booking confirmation, as well as a subsequent, on the day reminder from Schoolcloud directly.

- Please make a note of your child's date/time as we are very restricted with appointment availability, should you miss your review.

Important Reminder - Road Closure

Please be aware that due to the ongoing construction of the Everton Road housing development, the section of Everton Road which is currently closed is expected to be ongoing until Sunday 13th July. Please be mindful that this means that Everton Road will be closed for the majority of Summer term. Please click HERE for further information.

Furthermore, as per the recent email sent to families, Winchester County Council have advised us that parents, school staff and members of the community should not be moving any of the road signs that are currently in place advising of road closures and diversions. To do so would mean that the person moving them would be personally liable should an accident or incident occur.

Should you have any concerns or queries regarding the current road closures, please direct these to National Highways.

Thank you for helping us keep our families and local community safe.
