Spring Term 2 - Week Six - Friday 4th April 2025

A message from Miss Trim

Dear Parents and Carers,

As the spring term draws to a close, I would like to take a moment to reflect on our journey as a school community and to wish you all a truly wonderful Easter break.

During our church service on Monday, we explored the theme of ‘Hopes and Dreams’. It was truly inspiring to see our children engage so thoughtfully with the theme of our worship, sharing their hopes for children all around the world, singing songs and reflecting on their own aspirations. Some children shared their hopes to one day become a pilot, to be an entrepreneur and to help care for others! Whatever the aspirations, it is clear that the children of Hordle have big dreams - great aspirations - for their futures filled with determination and endless possibilities.

Easter is a time of great hope, reminding us that even in times of challenge, light and joy are always ahead. As we embrace time together this Easter holiday, I hope you will all find moments to pause and reflect on what you have already achieved so far this year and how much there is to look forward to: long, light summer evenings, the singing of the birds, the chance to take a simple stroll in fair weather.

On behalf of all the staff team, may I take this chance to thank you for being such a huge support to the school and for your unwavering dedication to helping your children achieve their best. Whether it’s listening to your child read, attending school events, getting stuck into the family home-learning projects or even volunteering for the Spring Clean, we want to thank you. Your commitment to our school and to our values makes a huge difference and genuinely helps to make our school a better place.

We very much look forward to welcoming the children back after Easter, ready for their summer term!

Warm wishes,

Miss Trim

Staff News

We would like to formally welcome Miss Emilia Bungard as our new School Receptionist/Admin Assistant. She joins Team Hordle with a wealth of administrative experience.

Miss Blatch will be moving away from her reception role as she has now taken over all things Hordle Explorers Nursery, alongside her usual school admin duties.

We wish you both every success in your new roles!

Congratulations Mrs James!

We are delighted to share the very exciting news that Mrs James, one of our Upper Junior Teaching Assistants, is expecting her second bundle of joy! Baby James #2 is due in Autumn term.

Ofsted Survey

The feedback of our families is really important to us and therefore, we would like to invite parents/guardians to complete our annual Oftsed survey.

The purpose of this survey is to ensure children feel safe and happy at our school and to highlight any areas for reflection.

All completed entries will be entered in to a draw to win an Easter egg! To be in with a chance of winning this prize, simply add your name to the top of the survey.

Please get your responses in by Monday 21st April.

Thank you for your support.

Polite Reminder - Bikes/Scooters/Skateboards on School Grounds

Please can we kindly remind families that any bikes, scooters, skateboards or any other form of similar transport is not used/ridden on the school site.

All forms of transport should be dismounted before entering on to the school site and then walked up to the available bike storage (located at the Longfield Road entrance/Team Nest), where they are to be stored neatly and safely or parents to take back home with them.

Thank you for keeping our school site safe, especially at school drop off and pick up.

Education Catering - Summer Menus

Please note, the Education Catering Menus will be changing after the Easter holidays.

You can find the new, printable menu HERE.

Changes to Waste Collection at School - Important Update for Parents

Following changes in legislation on waste disposal, schools are now required to separate food waste in addition to recycling, from general waste.

With effect from Monday 31st March, children will be required to use separate recycling and food waste bins from general waste.

What this means for your child

Learning the new rules

Children will attend an assembly on food waste and will be reminded how they can identify recyclable items from general waste - this is something they are already actively encouraged to do. However, the rules on food waste will be new to our children. We will stress the importance of careful recycling and waste separation to reduce our environmental impact.

Please be aware that schools will be fined for incorrect waste disposal so it's very important that we are all adhering to the new rules.

Packed Lunches

As per current procedures, all children will be required to bring home any food waste and packaging from packed lunches, in their lunchboxes. Please note that children will be asked not to dispose of packed lunch waste in school as food bins are for school waste only.

These rules will soon come in to effect in homes too, so this is a good opportunity to start training for this!

Thank you for your support to ensure all children are following these new rules from Monday. We know our children and families will welcome this opportunity to reduce our environmental impact, as much as we do.

School Report Feedback

School reports for children in Years 1-6 were recently sent home.

We hope that you enjoyed reading these together with your child and celebrating their successes so far this year.

As always, we appreciate your feedback, if you would like to take the time to comment on your child’s report, please do so HERE.

Earth Day - Tuesday 22nd April

Children are invited to attend school wearing earthy colours in aid of Earth Day, raising awareness for climate change.

We kindly ask families for a voluntary contribution of £1 to go towards new plants for the school grounds.
