Spring Term 1 - Week Four - Friday 31st January 2025

Staff News and Vacancy

It is with great sadness that we advise that Mrs Baldwin will soon be leaving Team Office to grow her own graphic design business. We are very sad to see Mrs Baldwin leave but are very excited for her and wish her the best of luck with this new opportunity.

This means that we are now recruiting a part time School Receptionist & Administration Assistant to support the smooth running of our front office.

If you, or anyone you know may be interested in this role please see HERE for further details.

Should you wish to find out more about the role please contact the school office and ask to speak to Mrs Rook.

Applications close at midday on Thursday 13th February.

Menu Change - Wednesday 5th February

Please be aware that next Wednesday, 5th February, there will be a menu swap for cooked lunches:

Green - Cheese and tomato pizza

Blue - Tangy BBQ sauce pizza topped with chicken

Thank you for your cooperation.

Water Bottles

Please can you ensure your child comes to school with a clearly named water bottle, every day.

Since January, we have gone through over 100 paper cups which is neither good for the environment, nor the school budget.

Please help us in reducing the use of paper cups.

Thank you.

We are delighted to share our chosen class charities, as nominated by the children, for 2024/25.

Please make a note in your diaries for the upcoming charity events for this term.

All classes will receive direct reminders via email for their upcoming events.

Team Ash Cake Sale - Friday 7th February

Following on from the above post, our first cake sale will be Team Ash next week, Friday 7th February so please ensure you bring change with you at school pick up.

Please can we ask parents/guardians of Team Ash,  that if you are able to provide some sweet treats (nut free), please take them to the classroom on the morning of the sale. All treats can either be homemade or shop bought!

If you are able to help run the cake stall on Friday 7th February, please let Miss Culver know.

Everton Road Closure

Please be aware that due to the ongoing roadworks, Everton Road will remain closed for a further 2 weeks.

Please can we remind parents that whilst these roadworks are ongoing and you are having to drive alternate routes/park in different roads, that parents and carers continue to be considerate when parking at drop off and pick up.

Please ensure that you only park safely on public roads and never block access to someone’s property or create an obstruction to the emergency services.

Please do not park or pull up on the yellow zig zag outside school at any time.

For those needing to cross the road, to further support Mr Ken in keeping you all safe, please can we ask that all parents use the crossroads to cross, not walk across the road directly outside school.

For parents/guardians or the local community wishing to complain of parking offences, please contact our local PCSO here, including photos where necessary.

Step Up, Safe Space School Jumper Collection

We are proud to now be working with the local charity Step Up, Safe Space for any unwanted old school jumpers.

Should you have any old school jumpers you no longer need, please bring them to the front office where we can add to our collection point. These jumpers are then donated to Step Up, Safe Space who are able to support local families in need.

Please note, we are only able to accept jumpers which are not initialled on the front.

Annual Hordle Spring clean and tidy up - 15th March 2025

As school budgets continue to be extremely tight, we look to our wonderful school community to assist where possible. We would like to invite parents back to the school for our Annual Spring Clean on Saturday 15th March between 10am - 1pm.

This event has been hugely successful in the past, with the school sparkling after just a few hours of labour from willing volunteers! Jobs that we need help with include washing down walls, tables and chairs and generally making the school sparkle.
We will be hugely grateful if you could spare some time to help that day. We will provide all the tools and supplies and will even have Miss Trim on hand to make our wonderful volunteers bacon sandwiches, tea and coffee and home baked cakes!

Please note that for Health & Safety reasons we are unable to have any children on site during this Spring clean.

Please let us know if you can come and help by completing this form.

Thank you for helping us love our school.

World Book Day - Friday 7th March

An advance notice that we will be celebrating World Book Day on Friday 7th March. There is no set theme this year, just come as your favourite character from any fictional or non fictional book.

Hopefully, this gives you all plenty of time to plan and get creative with costumes!

Please remember that costumes do not need to be expensive and can be created at home using what you already have. Please find some 'dressing up' ideas/solutions from World Book Day here.

Christmas Tree Decoration Collection

All Christmas tree decorations are now in two green crates outside the school office/hall, near lost property. Please can we ask that families collect their decorations at their soonest convenience.

If decorations are not collected by Friday 7th February, we will be disposing of them.

Hub Club Price Increase

Please be advised that as agreed by governors in July 2024, the Hordle Hub Club rates, for all internal clubs run by the school, will be increasing from £3.50 per week to £4 per week from 1st April 2025.

Breakfast Club and After School Club rates will be staying the same and will be reviewed again by Governors in April 2025. We will advise of any changes in due course, should there be any.

Important Information - Year 6 SAT's Dates

Please note that the Year 6 SAT's week will be

Monday 12th May - Friday 16th May 2025.

Please be aware that NO child can be taken out of school during a period of statutory testing. Unauthorised absence in these weeks is subject to an immediate fixed term penalty regardless of length.

Please therefore note the above dates in your diaries, where it is essential your child is in school.

Thank you for your cooperation.

Calling all young brass, woodwind and percussion musicians!

Following the huge success of Spy Chase, Christchurch Music Centre are doing another massed performance this term with a different piece.

This is an opportunity for any of our children (or their siblings) who play brass, percussion (you need to be able to read music) and woodwind (including recorders), to perform and be a part of the concert.

There will be a morning rehearsal on the day of the concert from 9.30-10am, if you are able to attend, or alternatively families are welcome to just come for the concert.

To confirm, this is open to any child who is currently learning a brass, woodwind or percussion instrument to ANY standard (even if it is just 5 notes). Captain Risktaker would love you to participate.

Please can any families interested in taking part email Cheri Wallace (cheri.wallace@hms.hants.gov.uk) for the music and backing track.

For those wishing to attend as spectators, there is no need to purchase tickets for the concert, and it is a free event.

If any children do participate in the concert, please feel free to send us any photos of your performances so we can share your fantastic achievement!

We would like to remind parents/guardians of the term dates for the next couple of months.

Friday 14th February - Last Day of Spring 1

-

Monday 24th February - First Day of Spring 2

Parents are strongly advised by the Government and Local Authority to avoid taking children out of school in term time because of the disruption it causes to their education.

Following the update to the Penalty Notice Framework, Miss Trim has kindly put together a helpful leaflet to outline the important changes and how the penalty notice system will work. The leaflet can be found here.
