Autumn Term 1 - Week Five - Friday 4th October 2024
|
|
|
No New Forest Football Academy or SEKF on Wednesday 9th October
As per communications from both New Forest Football Academy and Sensei Collin, please be reminded that there is no after school football or karate next week.
Please ensure alternate pick up is arranged for your child(ren) and/or should it required, den booked in advance to secure a space.
|
|
Late Collections
We continue to see an increase in late collections from school which are becoming increasingly tricky to manage as staff run clubs and attend meetings straight after school. If your child is collected late they will be taken to the Den.
Late collections are charged at £2.50 per 15 minutes and start at 3:25pm unless there are exceptional circumstances.
Parents will be notified in writing and advised when the late charges have been applied and asked to make a payment via late collections on Scopay.
Thank you for your understanding.

School Uniform
Please make sure your child arrives ready for the school day dressed in the full school uniform, unless it’s their PE day or they attend a Hub Club - they should then be wearing their Hordle PE kit.
We have seen an increase in branded items being worn to school, and in some cases, very short skirts/shorts being worn, too.
As a reminder, children should wear the following school uniform
- Dark grey classic trousers (no leggings), dark grey pinafore dress, dark grey skirt (with pleats), dark grey shorts;
- White blouse/shirt or polo shirt;
- Navy V neck sweatshirt with school logo;
- Navy gingham dress (Summer term only);
- White or grey socks or tights;
- Black trainer-style school shoes or black shoes.
Children should wear the following PE kit:
- Hordle PE top;
- Hordle Hoodie (alternatively plain navy or black warm PE top);
- Navy shorts/navy skort (plain navy or black leggings can be worn underneath shorts and skort on colder days);
- Plain navy or black jogging trousers/leggings;
- Black trainers.
Cycling shorts, if worn, should be a longer style. Nike Pro shorts are not suitable for school. Children will be provided with alternatives, if worn to school.
Please include a coat, hat and gloves as the weather continues to be cold.
Please ensure all uniform is clearly labelled. This means writing your child's name/family name in the label, not just initialling on the front. We found 18 jumpers on the field, after school on Thursday and 17 of these were returned to their children's classrooms and only one jumper unnamed and left in the lost property bin!
Thank you for your ongoing support with this.

Bag2School - Wednesday 9th October
Don't forget that we have our first Bag2School collection next week.
Please help our school raise funds by donating your unwanted, quality items!
Team PATCH have organised our first Bag2School collection of the year for Wednesday 9th October.
Bags can be dropped off to the front school car park in the afternoon of Tuesday 8th October and no later than 9am on Wednesday 9th October.
Please place the bags under the provided tarpaulin to protect all clothing from the rain. This is extremely important as wet clothes will not be collected and unfortunately, we will be forced to dispose of them
As well as clothing, Bag2School also accepts items such as shoes, hats or bags. For a full list on what you are able to donate, please click here.
Thank you, as always, for your ongoing support!

Unwanted School Uniform
We are delighted to share that we are now working with Step Up Safe Safe Charity, who will collect all branded Hordle Hoodies, joggers and other uniform items.
Should you have any unwanted, good quality school uniform (with the Hordle logo on only), please drop them in to front office.
For all other uniform such as polos, trousers, skirts, etc, we are unable to store all of these items. We therefore ask that you either very kindly keep these aside for one of our Bag2School collections (which happen termly) or contact Step Up Safe Space directly. A link to their Facebook page can be found here.
Please note, we cannot accept any uniform which has printed initials on the front.

Please ensure all School uniform is clearly labelled
As week three finishes, we are already receiving a high number of emails/call regarding lost property, mostly jumpers. Please can we remind all parents to ensure all uniform, especially jumpers and coats, are clearly named.
We cannot take responsibility for lost items. However, for any lost property which is handed in and named, we ensure it is returned to the correct children.
For all of our new families who have joined the school this term, our lost property bin can be found outside the school hall. We also have a new green crate which is located outside the reception, where we will store all other miscellaneous items such as Tuppawear and bottles. For more valuable items, such as glasses, these will be kept safely in reception.
Please can we also ask all parents to double check that all uniform that they have is definitely theirs as we have had a number of jumpers go missing.

Walktober 2024
We are taking part in Walktober 2024!
As we head into Autumn, it’s important that we all keep active and where possible, get outdoors. To encourage this, the My Journey Team at Hampshire County Council has invited schools to celebrate International Walk to School Month by taking part in Walktober.
This event is designed to inspire pupils, families and staff to travel actively and sustainably throughout October.
If you wish to participate, there is a Walktober competition for your child to enter. Over the month of October, pupils are required to complete a minimum of six activities (they can do more if they wish). Pupils can choose from the suggestions list or be creative and think of their own activity, too! The Walktober Activity Card's are stored in the office, please help yourself.
We hope as many of our pupils, families and staff as possible can get involved by walking, wheeling, cycling, scooting, using Park and Stride and public transport more often.

Parents are strongly advised by the Government and Local Authority to avoid taking children out of school in term time because of the disruption it causes to their education.
Following the recent update to the Penalty Notice Framework, Miss Trim has kindly put together a helpful leaflet to outline the important changes and how the penalty notice system will work. The leaflet can be found here.
