Please ensure all School uniform is clearly labelled
As week three finishes, we are already receiving a high number of emails/call regarding lost property, mostly jumpers. Please can we remind all parents to ensure all uniform, especially jumpers and coats, are clearly named.
We cannot take responsibility for lost items. However, for any lost property which is handed in and named, we ensure it is returned to the correct children.
For all of our new families who have joined the school this term, our lost property bin can be found outside the school hall. We also have a new green crate which is located outside the reception, where we will store all other miscellaneous items such as Tuppawear and bottles. For more valuable items, such as glasses, these will be kept safely in reception.
Please can we also ask all parents to double check that all uniform that they have is definitely theirs as we have had a number of jumpers go missing.

School Meal Census - Wednesday 2nd October
The school is allocated funding annually to cover the costs of UIFSM (Universal Infant Free School Meals) and the amount of funding received by the school is based on a head count of Infant children having a free lunch, on specific days, throughout the year.
The first census date this year is Wednesday 2nd October and we would like to encourage as many children in YR – Y2 to have a school lunch on that day.
If you have a child in YR to Y2, please help the school maximise this funding by signing your child up for a lunch.
Menu for Wednesday 2nd October
Green - Handmade Margherita Pizza (V)
Blue – Bubble Salmon with Crinkle Cut Wedges
Pudding - Banana Cake

Our School Nurses will be returning this year, on Thursday 3rd October, to provide children with their annual nasal flu vaccination. High vaccination rates are key to preventing the spread of infectious diseases and therefore, we encourage all parents to consent to the vaccination at school or if preferred or necessary due to other medical conditions, to book via your doctors surgery.
Please may we ask parents to consent (or decline) via the link below:
School Code: SH116486
Last year's uptake rate across Hampshire was 69% for primary age children and for Team Hordle, we achieved an uptake of 70.21% (the target set by NHS England is 75%).
Thank you for helping us promote a healthy environment in our school, as well as the wider community.
***
Parents who don’t want their child to have the nasal spray because of the very small amounts of porcine gelatine (used as a stabiliser) can discuss the option of an injected vaccine with the school aged immunisation service. Please find their details via the link above.

Bag2School - Wednesday 9th October
Help our school raise funds by donating your unwanted, quality items!
Team PATCH have organised our first Bag2School collection of the year for Wednesday 9th October.
Bags can be dropped off to the front school car park in the afternoon of Tuesday 8th October and no later than 9am on Wednesday 9th October.
Please place the bags under the provided tarpaulin to protect all clothing from the rain. This is extremely important as wet clothes will not be collected and unfortunately, we will be forced to dispose of them
As well as clothing, Bag2School also accepts items such shoes, hats or bags. For a full list on what you are able to donate, please click here.
Thank you, as always, for your ongoing support!

Walktober 2024
We are taking part in Walktober 2024!
As we head into Autumn, it’s important that we all keep active and where possible, get outdoors. To encourage this, the My Journey Team at Hampshire County Council has invited schools to celebrate International Walk to School Month by taking part in Walktober.
This event is designed to inspire pupils, families and staff to travel actively and sustainably throughout October.
If you wish to participate, there is a Walktober competition for your child to enter. Over the month of October, pupils are required to complete a minimum of six activities (they can do more if they wish). Pupils can choose from the suggestions list or be creative and think of their own activity, too! The Walktober Activity Card's are stored in the office, please help yourself.
We hope as many of our pupils, families and staff as possible can get involved by walking, wheeling, cycling, scooting, using Park and Stride and public transport more often.

Measles Vaccination
As you may be aware, in a bid to prevent a rise in measles cases similar to that seen in October 2023 with children returning to school, the UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) has issued an urgent call to parents to ensure their children catch up on missed vaccinations before they head to the classroom, as UKHSA scales up the Childhood Immunisation Marketing Campaign across England amid fears of a further surge in measles cases as the new term begins.
The campaign shares the urgent message that “if children aren’t vaccinated, they’re not protected”.
Please can we remind all parents to ensure that their children's vaccinations are up to date, helping to protect them and others.
Thank you.

27 Sep 2024
This week, the Lower Juniors are being risk takers and trying some new ingredients to see if we might include them on our pizzas. The seaweed, pineapple and olives were a hit with most of us. However, we were divided on the capers and the spring onion had us running for our water bottles!! 🤣
