Autumn Term 1 - Week 8 - Thursday 22nd October 2026

A Message from Miss Trim

Dear families,

I would like to take this opportunity to thank our children, families and school community for your overwhelming support during our Ofsted visit this week. I am truly grateful for your wonderful letters, emails and the in-person comments you have shared with the Ofsted inspectors to give them just a taste of your experience at Team Hordle. The comments you have shared have shown just what an incredible community we have and the team and I can’t thank you enough.

Across the course of this week, all of our children have been phenomenal - as always. They spoke with confidence and real passion about a school where they have a strong sense of belonging and pride in all they achieve. Children demonstrated their learning values in all their force and Captain Aspiration is incredibly proud of every single one of them. They will be wearing gold Headteacher stickers when they leave school today!

I would like to share how immensely proud I am of my staff team who worked so diligently to ensure the inspectors saw what I see every day - total dedication to their children, the highest quality teaching and unwavering commitment to everything Team Hordle.

As I am sure you can imagine, the grading of an Ofsted inspection takes considerable time to compile and this means that it will be several weeks until we are able to share the outcome with families. We will share this with you as soon as we are able to do so and thank you for your patience during this process.

For now, we take a moment to rest and enjoy the half term break, as we hope many of you are able to do with your wonderful children.

We look forward to seeing you all return to school on Tuesday 3rd November.

Warm regards,

Miss Trim

Headteacher

INSET Day / Half Term Reminder

Please be reminded that Friday 23rd October is an INSET day and so both the school and nursery will be closed. Monday 2nd November is also an INSET day, meaning children will not be returning to school and nursery until Tuesday 3rd November.

We wish all of our families a wonderful half term break.

Reminder Team Badger Charity Cake Sale - Today, Thursday 22nd October

Team Badger will be holding it's charity cake sale today Thursday, 22nd October to raise funds for their class charity, Guide Dogs.

Team Badger families, if you are able to provide some sweet treats (nut and sesame free), please take them to the classroom on the morning of the sale.

We kindly ask all families to provide a list of all ingredients used for any home bakes for allergy purposes.

If you are able to help in selling the cakes please let Mrs O'Connor know.

Please be advised that many products state that they 'may contain nuts' and therefore, whilst all reasonable care is taken, families must be mindful that purchases are made at your own risk.

Individual and Sibling Photo Proofs

We are delighted to share that photo proofs have now been distributed to class and will be coming home with your child(ren) this afternoon.

All orders are to be made online via Cardwell & Simons (details are included on the photo proofs).

For free delivery to school, orders must be placed by Wednesday 4th November. Any orders placed after the deadline will incur a delivery charge.

Bag2School Collection - Thursday 5th November

Help our school raise funds by donating your unwanted, quality items!

Team PATCH have organised our first Bag2School collection of the year on Thursday 5th November.

Bags can be dropped off to the front school car park from the afternoon of Wednesday 4th November and no later than 9am on Thursday 5th November.

Please place the bags under the provided tarpaulin to protect all clothing from the rain. This is extremely important as wet clothes will not be collected and unfortunately, we will be forced to dispose of them

As well as clothing, Bag2School also accepts items such shoes, hats or bags. For a full list on what you are able to donate, please click here.

Thank you, as always, for your ongoing support.

We are delighted to share the new lunch menu which will run from Tuesday 3rd November and is now available to book on the Arbor Parent Portal.

Please click HERE for the full menu details.

We would be grateful if you could please update your child's meal options ahead of the new term and a reminder that orders close at 8am each morning.

Please can we remind families that we require a 100% response each day for lunch orders. If your child is having a packed lunch from home, this MUST be confirmed via the Arbor Parent Portal.

Please contact the school office if you have any questions regarding the menu or how to book via your child's Arbor account.

We Need You! Poppy Memorial Tribute

We are delighted to announce that we will be installing a new memorial tribute in the courtyard over October half term. This piece has been a year in the design process with all children involved in making clay poppies which are soon to be glazed before creating our very own poppy waterfall display.

In order to make this a fitting tribute, we are looking to raise funds to purchase two metal black silhouettes of the 'Unknown Tommy and Women In War' from the Royal British Veterans Enterprise.

Should you wish to make a small donation to the memorial garden, please log in to your child's Arbor account where you will have the option of making a voluntary £2 contribution. We also welcome cash donations into the school office should you prefer.

We want our memorial garden to be a really fitting tribute to those who have served in wars through history and those serving today.

Christmas Mobiles Homework

It's that wonderful time of year where we ask families to prepare a Christmas mobile together, ready to be displayed in our hall for the festive period. We can't wait to see your creations and bring this Hordle tradition to life this year!

Using two hangers, joined and decorated with coloured tape or tinsel, we ask that you and your family create a beautiful Christmas mobile together. The one shown below is just an example, we are sure that you will have many wonderful and creative ideas.

Your finished mobile masterpiece must come in to school on the morning of Monday 30th November at 9am so that it is ready to be displayed in the hall for the start of advent. We are looking forward to a spectacular display in the hall again this year.

This is not a compulsory project but is a wonderful Hordle tradition for everyone!

For those families wishing to participate, please ensure all mobiles are labelled and clearly named so that they can be returned at the end of term.

Have fun, Team!
