Autumn Term 1 - Week 7 - Friday 16th October 2026

INSET Day / Half Term Reminder

Please be reminded that Friday 23rd October is an INSET day and so both the school and nursery will be closed. Monday 2nd November is also an INSET day, meaning children will not be returning to school and nursery until Tuesday 3rd November.

Reporting Daily Sickness/Absence from School

Please can we remind parents/guardians of our schools absence procedures:
• Contact us as soon as possible (and before 9:30am at the latest) on the first day of absence; telephone (via the schools absence line), email or visit the school office
• Advise us on the nature of your child’s absence (please note, that in the event of sickness and/or diarrhoea, the exclusion period is 48 hours since the last bout of illness).
• Update the school daily on subsequent days absence unless advised otherwise.
If your child is absent and we have not heard from you by 9.30am at the latest, we will telephone you and any other contacts that have been provided to us to confirm your child’s whereabouts.

We have a safeguarding duty to ensure your child’s safety as well as their regular school attendance. A child not attending school is considered a safeguarding matter. This is why information about the cause of any absence is always required.

Please note, if no reason for absence is received before 12pm it is a safeguarding requirement for us to visit the family home to ascertain your child’s wellbeing.

Please help us to ensure the safeguarding of all children in our care.

Upcoming Team Badger Charity Cake Sale - Thursday 22nd October

Team Badger will be holding it's charity cake sale next Thursday, 22nd October to raise funds for their class charity, Guide Dogs.

Team Badger families, if you are able to provide some sweet treats (nut and sesame free), please take them to the classroom on the morning of the sale.

We kindly ask all families to provide a list of all ingredients used for any home bakes for allergy purposes.

If you are able to help in selling the cakes please let Mrs O'Connor know.

Please be advised that many products state that they 'may contain nuts' and therefore, whilst all reasonable care is taken, families must be mindful that purchases are made at your own risk.

Poppy Appeal

Please be aware that from Monday 19th October - Thursday 22nd October, Upper Junior children will be going around school, offering children (and families) the opportunity to purchase poppy's and other poppy appeal merchandise.

We recommend a minimum donation of £1 per item.

Thank you for your support.

We Need You! Poppy Memorial Tribute

We are delighted to announce that we will be installing a new memorial tribute in the courtyard over October half term. This piece has been a year in the design process with all children involved in making clay poppies which are soon to be glazed before creating our very own poppy waterfall display.

In order to make this a fitting tribute, we are looking to raise funds to purchase two metal black silhouettes of the 'Unknown Tommy and Women In War' from the Royal British Veterans Enterprise.

Should you wish to make a small donation to the memorial garden, please log in to your child's Arbor account where you will have the option of making a voluntary £2 contribution. We also welcome cash donations into the school office should you prefer.

We want our memorial garden to be a really fitting tribute to those who have served in wars through history and those serving today.

Bag2School Collection - Thursday 5th November

Help our school raise funds by donating your unwanted, quality items!

Team PATCH have organised our first Bag2School collection of the year on Thursday 5th November.

Bags can be dropped off to the front school car park from the afternoon of Wednesday 4th November and no later than 9am on Thursday 5th November.

Please place the bags under the provided tarpaulin to protect all clothing from the rain. This is extremely important as wet clothes will not be collected and unfortunately, we will be forced to dispose of them

As well as clothing, Bag2School also accepts items such shoes, hats or bags. For a full list on what you are able to donate, please click here.

Thank you, as always, for your ongoing support.

Let's get moving this Walktober!

Get moving for our wellbeing, our community and our planet.

As we head into autumn, it’s important to stay active and spend time outdoors whenever possible. To encourage this, Hampshire County Council’s Travel Planning Team is inviting schools to take part in Walktober 2026 as part of International Walk to School Month.

We hope as many of our pupils, families and staff as possible will take part by walking, wheeling, cycling, scooting, using Park and Stride or travelling by public transport for journeys to and from school, work and for other journeys too.

Walktober is a challenge held each October to celebrate International Walk to School Month. We will be encouraging all our children in school and nursery to get moving by walking, wheeling and choosing other active and sustainable ways to travel throughout the month.

Please also keep your eyes peeled for Basil the bird who may be making some guest appearances throughout!

We also currently have spaces available in Year 3 - Year 6. If you know of anyone who would be interested in attending, please ask them to contact us using the details above.

Please help us by sharing our school tour dates with friends and family in the local area.

Many thanks in advance.
