Autumn Term 1 - Week 2 - Friday 11th September 2026

School Drop Off / Pick Up Parking Reminders

Please can we remind parents and carers to be considerate when parking at drop off and pick up times on roads surrounding the school.

*

Please do not park or pull up on the yellow zig zags outside school at any time. We have already received a number of complaints so far this term, regarding parents/guardians pulling up on the zig zags to drop children off and that parents are blocking the entrance to Nursery Close (opposite school) and double parking which means people cannot get out of their driveways to go to work, or turn safely into/out of the close. This poses significant danger to the children getting out of these cars and to those who may be walking to school!

Parents will now receive an email from school should they be seen to be breaching these safety requests and details will be shared with the PCSO.

*

Please ensure that you only park on public roads and never block access to someone's property or create an obstruction to the emergency services.

*

We also kindly remind families not to park in the front car park, unless expressly agreed with the school in advance (this includes using the front car park as a turning point).

*

For those needing to cross the road, to further support Mr Ken in keeping you all safe, please can we ask that all parents use the crossroads to cross, not walk across the road directly outside school.

For parents/guardians wishing to complain of parking offences, please contact our local PCSO HERE, including photos where necessary.

Please help us in keeping our children and community safe.

School Uniform Reminders

Children should wear the following school uniform ONLY:
• Dark grey classic trousers (no leggings), dark grey pinafore dress, dark grey skirt (with pleats), dark grey shorts (required);

• White blouse/shirt or polo shirt (required);

• Navy V neck sweatshirt with school logo (required);

• Navy gingham dress (Summer term only, optional);

• White or grey socks or tights (required);

• Black trainer-style school shoes or black shoes (required)*.

*If your child's school shoes become lost or damaged, can we please remind parents/guardians that Crocs are NOT suitable footwear and are not permitted to be worn at school. Children should wear trainer-style shoes with no open backs for health and safety purposes.

Children should wear the following PE kit ONLY:
• Hordle PE top (required);

• Hordle Hoodie (optional, alternatively plain navy or black warm PE top);

• Navy shorts/navy skort (required);

• Plain navy or black jogging trousers/leggings (required);

• Black trainers (required).

If your child has their ears pierced, we ask that earrings are either removed for PE or that parents/guardians supply their own earring tape. We do not provide tape as a school.

*

School Uniform Expectations
Please make sure your child arrives ready for the school day dressed in the full school uniform, unless it’s their PE day or they attend a Hub Sports Club - they should then be wearing their Hordle PE kit.

*

Naming Items
Please ensure all uniform and personal items such as coats, hats, etc are clearly named. Named items that become lost can be returned to their rightful owners and avoid the lost property bin!

*

School Uniform Policy and Expectations

Full details on school uniform expectations can be found on our website HERE.

Thank you for your ongoing support.

Numbots and TTRS!

We’re excited to remind you about Times Tables Rockstars and Numbots, two excellent online platforms designed to support your child’s maths learning in a fun and interactive way!

Times Tables Rockstars helps children master their multiplication tables through exciting games and challenges, while Numbots focuses on building solid foundations in addition and subtraction skills. Both platforms are fantastic for boosting your child’s confidence and fluency in maths, and they are easily accessible from home!

***

How to Use Times Tables Rockstars and Numbots at Home:

♦ Log in regularly: Just 5-10 minutes a day on each platform can make a big difference. Consistency is the key to building strong maths skills.

♦ Play together: Engage with your child by playing along, setting challenges, and celebrating their progress.

♦ Track progress: Both platforms provide feedback on your child’s improvement, helping you see how much they’re growing.

***

Why It's Important

Mastering times tables, addition, and subtraction is fundamental for many areas of maths, from problem-solving to understanding fractions and beyond. Quick recall of these facts helps children tackle more complex problems with confidence, both in school and in real-life situations, like shopping or handling money.

By making learning fun through Times Tables Rockstars and Numbots, we can ensure your child builds a solid mathematical foundation, preparing them for future success.

Every child has a log on for these platforms and we look forward to sharing with you, each week, the progress and engagement.

If you have lost/forgotten your log in, please speak with your class teacher.

Thank you for your continued support in making maths enjoyable and rewarding for your child!

The School Nursing team will be attending school on the morning of Monday 28th September to deliver the flu nasal spray to Year R - Year 6 where a completed consent form has been provided by parents.

We kindly ask that the below form is completed by no later than Thursday 24th September.

FLU VACCINATION PARENT/GUARDIAN CONSENT FORM

The school nursing team will be unable to offer the nasal spray vaccination if we do not have a completed form by this date.

The form submissions are managed directly by the nursing team and therefore, we will be unable to advise if you have completed the form so please do so at your earliest convenience to avoid any confusion.

For families who do not wish for their child to receive the vaccination in school, we do strongly encourage they receive the vaccination at their local GP surgery to help minimise risk at school.

Thank you in advance!

We wish to invite you all to our annual Macmillan Coffee Afternoon on Friday 25th September. This event raises valuable funds for Macmillan Cancer Support and we cannot do this without you! If you are able to bake for this wonderful cause, please complete THIS FORM so we know how many to expect.

We welcome all types of cake (nut free), biscuits and/or pastries, either homemade or shop bought. We are so grateful for any donations.

***

In line, with recent legislation updates and to further safeguard our families, we now kindly ask that any families who wish to provide baked goods for the coffee afternoon, please provide a written list of all the ingredients for allergy awareness purposes.

Census Day - Thursday 1st October

The school is allocated funding annually to cover the costs of UIFSM (Universal Infant Free School Meals) and the amount of funding received by the school is based on a head count of Infant children (Year R - Year 2) having a free lunch, on specific days, throughout the year.

The first census date for this year is Thursday 1st  October and we would like to encourage as many children in Year R – Year 2 to have a school lunch on that day. So, if you have a child in YR to Y2 please help the school maximise this funding by signing your child up for a lunch.

Change of Menu for Census Day

Blue - Sausage hotdog

Green - Veggie hotdog

Served with chips and beans or sweetcorn.

We will also be offering jacket potatoes, as normal.

Rocket lollies will be served for pudding as well as fruit and jelly options.

If your child would like to order a meal on census day, please ensure you have ordered a meal option via Arbor (please ignore the meal listed on the app for this date) and we will check orders on the day, in class.

*

The menu for the rest of the week remains the same.

Home School Agreement

At Hordle CE (VA) Primary School, we are proud to be a Church of England school where our Christian vision to “live life, life in all its fullness” underpins everything we do.

Our Home School Agreement outlines the essential partnership between the school, parents/guardians, and pupils. Working together, we aim to realise the full potential of every child.

Please read and share our HOME SCHOOL AGREEMENT 2026/27 with your child and complete the below consent form(s) to confirm that it has been read.

 PARENT/GUARDIAN CONSENT FORM

In addition, if your child is in Year 3 - Year 6, we kindly request that you ask them to complete the below:

Y3 - Y6 CHILD AGREEMENT CONSENT FORM

Please submit all forms by Friday 2nd October.

Previous Scopay Credits and Debt

We are delighted to share that all previous Scopay credits and debt have now been transferred across to Arbor and allocated accordingly.

This now means that Arbor reflects true balances of all monies owed. We kindly ask families to continue making regular payments to their account(s), ensuring all dinners, Breakfast Club and Den bookings are paid for in advance of the dinner/session taking place.

Thank you for your cooperation.

Parent Reminder - Arbor Updates

Arbor parent information

Thank you for your patience and support during our transition from Scopay to Arbor. As with all system changes, there are some things that don’t work quite in the same way and are taking a bit of getting used to but we are in the process of ironing out the niggles!

***

Important things to note

App/Website version

We have been advised by our IT provider that the web version of Arbor is much better than the App (as was the case with Scopay) so we would really encourage parents to use this version. Arbor are investing a lot of funds in a new App as they recognise this is a really useful tool for families and schools and hope to have this launched in early 2027 but for now we recommend using the web version of the parent portal

*

Meals

We do need 100% sign up for lunches (including selecting a packed lunch from home) each day by 8am so please do take some time over the weekend to select meal choices with your child for the week ahead. If you prefer, you can sign up for all meals up to October half term and the children are very used to this menu as it has been in place since April so they usually know their favourites!

*

The Den Breakfast and After School Club

Unfortunately, once a session has been booked and confirmed, it cannot be cancelled or amended to a different time. If you need to make any changes please email theden@hordleprimary.co.uk and we will cancel the sessions not required so that you can rebook

Please check balances and make payments on a regular basis to ensure accounts do not build up debt. Sessions should be paid for in advance. Late collection charges will continue to apply for late pick ups and will be added to your child's Arbor account

If you wish to check the timing of the sessions you have booked, you can visit the calendar view on the parent portal and this will show you the time (scroll through the days).

If you have any additional questions please do not hesitate to contact the office team adminoffice@hordle.hants.sch.uk.ordle.hants.sch.uk

***

Updating Parent/Emergency Contact Details

Please ensure all contact details are correct on your child's Arbor profile. It is essential that we have up to date contact details for parents/guardians and any emergency contacts listed on your child’s pupil file. This is our safeguarding duty.

If you change contact details or move house please update your details via the Arbor App. We require proof of address for any change of address records.

Please note, if you have more than one child attending Hordle Primary School and Nursery, any changes made to one profile will not automatically apply to any siblings and so you will need to ensure you update both profiles accordingly.

Thank you for your support in ensuring our records are kept up to date.

***

Medical, Dietary and Other Important Updates

For any further updates needed for children's profiles, e.g. medical or dietary, please email adminoffice@hordle.hants.sch.uk who will be more than happy to help.

***

Thank you for your consideration of this in the coming weeks as we head towards the end of the school year.
