Team UJ: Roman Workshops

Last week, Team UJs were delighted to welcome St Barbe Museum + Art Gallery into our classrooms to kick-start our exciting new history topic: the Romans.
We explored evidence and artefacts which suggest the Romans were in the New Forest around 410-620 AD, including remnants of Roman roads, hoards of coins found in Boldre and we even examined some pottery unique to our region. The children then used archaeological techniques to analyse pots, designed their own Roman coins and shopped for everyday and luxury items using As and Denarii coins.
Thank you to Verity at St Barbe's Museum for a fantastic time!
