The team have continued to enjoy engineering challenges and created the most amazing cup towers. Not only was it exciting to build something taller than them, it was also great fun to crash them down too! In contrast, some children enjoyed the more intricate challenge of making towers from pegs and lolly sticks which took a lot of resilience, concentration and precision! 

HEN Den have been loving getting dressed up! They have been working as a team, role playing as the Three Little Pigs, working together to build a wall. The children decided they wanted to play 'Wizards' with Mr Ewing and before long the children were being turned into different animals. The children were all able to sound and move like the relevant animals and stayed in character until the magic reversed them!

Team HEN Den have been practising different mark making, using a variety of tools including cotton buds, brushes and corks to create wonderful paintings! 

HEN Den have also been very busy. They have been loving their new fishing rod/threading game which is great for their fine motor development, alongside lots of drawing and playdoh. They also been enjoying our new cosy book corner and group Storytime before they go home.

We have been making the most of the dry spells and getting outside for team games of tennis and football but when the weather has been too wet, the children have continued to enjoy playing table football instead, as well as creating amazing marble runs.

HEN Den have been busy exploring the newly revamped HEN classroom (mostly in fancy dress, playing princesses and knights!).

Main Den have been enjoying our unicorn crafts as part of our mythical creatures week. They have made moving unicorns using split pins and unicorns with beautiful coloured manes.

Early years Den have also had lots of fun doing water play using different containers to pour the water down the water pipes. They did a great job at working as a team to catch the water at the bottom too. They also loved creating an ice cream parlor with the playdough. They scooped the dough into the cones and enjoyed serving it to their friends and teachers.

In between all of the festivities, the children in Den have also been loving our new football table. They have worked well both as teams and taking it in turns individually,  taking part in many tournaments. The children have all shown great teamship and resilience and have enjoyed cheering one another on - Miss Ward has especially loved getting involved, too! Join us next week for more festive fun!

This week's theme is winter- ice and snow - great timing with the colder weather! The children have enjoyed making winter necklaces using wooden log slices, snowflakes and mittens. Some children got creative and instead of making mittens, they made socks, whales and Santa 🎅 it has also been a competitive week in Den with the children loving chess championships against each other ♟️

HEN Den have been loving Christmas themed 'Draw with Rob' this week - look at their amazing drawings! We think they're excellent. Great work, Team HEN Den!! ☃️✏️

HEN Den particularly enjoyed racing one another across the blue pitch - they were all super speedy!

The children have enjoyed various pirate themed crafts including making their own pirate hats, treasure maps and making peg leg pirates using split pins!  We have also been playing different pirate themed board games and puzzles. As the children thoroughly enjoyed the puzzles, we decided to complete all sorts of other themed puzzles including a world map and a Mario and Yoshi one, too! 🧩

Some of the children have also been creating posters for a book club that they are setting up during lunchtimes! It's great to see them using their initiative.

Team Den have also been putting together creative football obstacle courses using cones. The objective was to dribble around all of the cones before scoring a goal, as well as ensuring not to knock any of the obstacles over! ⚽

In addition to our crafts, the children have also been loving our 'stacking cup engineering challenges', getting creative with the magnets and being super resilient whilst making origami creations by following the very tricky instructions in the book. 

Kinetic sand has also been thoroughly enjoyed by many, using moulds, cutters and their fingers to build and explore. 

Team HEN Den enjoyed celebrating Miss Peach's birthday by singing to her and decorating a biscuit with icing pens!

We hope you all have a nice half term and we can't wait to see you all in summer 2.

They have created African tribal necklaces by threading coloured pasta onto wool, designed their own henna hands and made postage stamps to facilitate these travels!

They have also been loving using spirographs and rainbow scratch art to make beautiful patterns and creations.

As the sun continues to shine, the tennis and football matches remain a very popular choice! It is great to see the children working so well as a team and being supportive and proud of each other.

We have continued the topic of 'weather' this week. A favourite craft amongst the team has been creating a rainbow rain cloud! The children made these by  colouring in and/or sticking on tissue paper to a paper plate and then carefully threading blue wool through the holes to make the rainfall. The children also enjoyed making some red, white and blue paper chains for VE Day. 

The children have been enjoying some friendly competition - Twister has been popular this week with the children finding it very funny to play (and win) against Mr Ewing, as well as tennis matches are also getting serious with boys vs girls matches (and everyone against Miss Ward!). 

We look forward to seeing what our Team Den children choose to do next week. 

The children in Hen Den have also been busy doing lots of cutting and sticking to make mothers day cards and Easter arts and crafts. They also had lots of fun playing with the balls and balancing on the benches in the school hall!  

Team HEN Den have been busy enjoying their outside area, too. They have had lots of fun building towers with the bricks and soft play blocks and even more fun knocking them over!

The topic for the first two weeks is 'under the sea'. Using various methods of arts and crafts, the children have got creative making all sorts of sea creatures from turtles to crabs, jellyfish and octopus 🦀🐢🐙

It is also time for Den to enter the next competition. This time it is 'mythical creature' theme and the children have been imaginative with their entries. Hopefully enough to win the £1000 prize or the chance to adopt an animal if we make the top 10!

Team Hen Den have had lots of fun playing fancy dress and enjoy their new resources. We also had some left over polystyrene foam packaging chips which we used to do 'magic' with. We used a large bowl to add warm, coloured water and the children were amazed to see them dissolve 🪄✨

Main Den have been getting competitive with our new games of Dobble and Animal Top Trumps. They have also loved getting creative with the new building magnets!  It has been great seeing the children so inspired and enjoying the new toys.

It has also been amazing to get Team Den back outside this week, thanks to the dry afternoons and lighter evenings! We have been enjoying the play equipment as well as playing football, champ and tennis.

Did you know that there are no booking commitments for Den? Your child can come as a one off, one day a week or every day if that suits you best! As well as crafts, the children have the choice to participate in outdoor activities, board games, play games on the interactive whiteboard, enjoy a book, play with toys and get to enjoy a snack, too. We have recently entered a new competition and are now starting to create our 'perfect pet', which we are excited to enter.  This competition provides us with the chance to win an animal adoption, PLUS £1000 for the Den to use for new and fun resources.

Next week in Den, as well as continuing with our entries for the 'Perfect Pet' competition, we are also looking forward to getting creative with some Autumn crafts including leaf rubbing and  pumpkin crafts. There will also be the usual outdoor sport/playtime, board games, reading or simply relaxing! Don't forget to book! 

There have been many very creative crafts this week, from Snow White mirrors, Ariel puppets, yummy popcorn and Forkies!

The children have all loved using their imaginations to create their film props.

The children have enjoyed getting creative making self portraits and drawing their family and favourite things to do and eat!

The children have especially loved playing 'Teachers' with one another, as well as games such as hangman. There has been some wonderful teamwork and problem-solving from our Den children. 

We hope to utilise our IWB, helping aid the children's creativity and imaginations, as well as helping to support them in becoming more confident in using the technologies they use to help them with their learning. 

We have loved being outside, exploring the bubbles and playing various ball games (in the shade, of course!). 

The children have loved being creative and experimenting with different activities.
