Pupil Premium

At Hordle, we believe every child deserves to feel a deep sense of belonging, safety, and connection. When children feel emotionally secure, they are ready to learn, grow, and flourish. Guided by principles such as Maslow’s hierarchy of need, we place well‑being and strong relationships at the centre of our work with all pupils, including those eligible for Pupil Premium.

Our ambition is simple and unwavering: for every disadvantaged pupil to leave Hordle confident, capable, and equipped for a lifetime of learning. To achieve this, we focus on:

  • A rich, ambitious curriculum that builds personal development and cultural capital

  • A strong emphasis on reading and a genuine love of literature

  • Secure mastery of core writing skills, including transcription, to unlock the full curriculum

  • High expectations in mathematics, nurturing deep understanding and resilience

  • Excellence in teaching across all subjects, recognising its vital role in closing the attainment gap

  • High levels of attendance, ensuring pupils benefit from consistent learning and strong routines

We know that children thrive when the adults around them work together. Our “team around the child” approach means we collaborate closely with families and draw on the expertise of a wide range of agencies to ensure every learner receives the support they need to succeed.

At Hordle, our Pupil Premium strategy is rooted in what matters most: strong relationships, high expectations and the belief that every child can achieve well with the right support.
