Year 5 were thrilled to welcome Squadron Leader Jamie Gawler as part of their WWII history unit. He captivated the children with stories from his career in the RAF as a Chinook pilot, flying medical evacuation teams into war‑torn regions and supporting life‑saving missions around the world.

Drawing on his expertise, Jamie explored how design and technology have evolved from WWI and WWII to the highly advanced equipment used by today’s armed forces. This comparison brought the children’s learning to life, helping them appreciate the dramatic changes in engineering, safety and innovation over time.
