Team KS1: The 5 Senses

In science, KS1 have been learning about the 5 senses; sight, smell, touch, hearing and taste.
To help us understand how sight helps us, the children tried throwing beanbags into a hoop with both eyes open, one eye open and their eyes closed. They discovered they did best with their full sight which demonstrates its importance.
To demonstrate how important our skin is to feel things the children tried feeling various items of different textures with their hand, arm and whilst wearing a glove. They discovered that it was easier to feel its texture with their bare skin rather than whilst wearing a glove.
We also had a listen to various loud and quiet sounds we could hear in the classroom and discussed why loud sounds like car horns sound quiet when you are further away as the sound has further to travel.
