Summer Term 2 - Week 1 - Friday 7th June 2024

Important Notice - Staff News

It is with great sadness that we will be saying farewell to some members of Team Hordle at the end of this school year.

LEAVERS
Miss Winn will be leaving to follow her dreams of working in special education. We would like to wish her all the very best in her new school and know the children will be very lucky to have her indeed.

Miss Young is heading off for new and exciting adventures, travelling the world. She is planning an exciting trip to Australia and we very much hope to receive a postcard or two in the near future. Enjoy your travels, Miss Young.

After an impressive 21 years at Team Hordle, Miss Fletcher-Jones is taking on a new and exciting role as Senior Teacher and Leader in a local school. We wish her all the very best in her new role. You will be missed!

Mrs Tubb has been our very inspirational choir teacher for many, many years at Hordle but the time has come to retire. We will be so very sad to see you go. Thank you so much for bringing the beauty of music and song into our school.

We are delighted to share that we have some new members of staff joining the team from September.

JOINERS
Mrs O'Connor will be joining the teaching team in the main school for a year as she completes her teacher training. Mrs O'Connor is currently Team Wild Deputy Nursery Manager and has worked incredibly hard to make it the wonderful setting it is today. We're so proud of everything you have achieved already in pursuing a career in teaching and we are thrilled to support Mrs O'Connor in her ongoing development.

Whilst not new to Team Hordle, Mrs Aucott will be taking on the role of Deputy Nursery Manager and looking after our Wildlings in our outdoor nursery setting - Team Wild. Mrs Aucott is currently working in Team Nest and is thrilled to be moving up to Team Wild with many of our Nest children in September. She has been with the team for many years and is very much looking forward to this opportunity.

Miss Dawson will be joining the team as a class teacher having competed her teacher training with us just last year. The children will be delighted to see you back in school.

Finally, Miss Cazneaux will be returning to school to take on the role of Deputy Headteacher. Miss Cazneaux was a longstanding member of Team Hordle for 10 years, starting as an NQT in her first year of teaching, moving up to Upper Junior Lead before her departure for promotion to Deputy Head at a local school, where she has spent the last four years. We are thrilled that she is returning to us and very much looking forward to welcoming her back to Team Hordle.

Mrs Dunwoody will be taking on the role of choir teacher and further details will be shared shortly on how to sign up for the choir which will start again in September. We can't wait to warm up our singing voices!

Please join me in congratulating our leavers on their new positions and we look forward to joining our new starters in September.

Learning Reviews are Live!

Learning Reviews for all year groups will take place virtually again this term, between Monday 1st July - Thursday 18th July. Please see the below schedule for class specific dates/times.

We will once again be using SchoolCloud which acts as a platform for hosting our online virtual Learning Reviews. This allows you to choose your own appointment times with teachers and you will receive an email confirming your appointments - please do keep a note of your appointment time but just in case, you will receive a reminder notification on the day.

Bookings will be open from today, Friday 7th June until Friday 21st June, when the system will close.

As learning reviews are in place to benefit your child(ren)'s learning, we strongly encourage parents/guardians to book a learning review.

Please click here to access the new booking system to book your child's appointment.

Please note, the system will only allow you to book one appointment per child, if you wish to invite one additional parent to join the meeting virtually, you may do so by following these instructions. We highly recommend reading the instructions and watching the short video guide, so you know how to use the system and to familiarise yourselves with what will happen on the day.

For split families, if you are having problems booking an appointment, please email Miss Blatch in the office (lauren.blatch@hordleprimary.co.uk) who can assist further.

Additional Info:

Timeslots on the day are managed automatically by the SchoolCloud system and are therefore strictly limited to your allotted time.

At the end of your Learning Review the session will automatically end, this cannot be manually overridden.

Please ensure that you log in giving yourself time to test your camera and audio so that you have the maximum time with your child's teacher.

School Uniform

Team Office have been able to reunite a lot of uniform with their children as they were named. Please remember to check the lost property bin outside the hall if you are missing anything!

Further items were able to be returned due to the initials on front of the clothing. However, please be mindful that this is not sufficient in most cases as it is likely we have other children in the school with the same initials.

We are still having a high volume of lost property handed in, most of which is unnamed.  Please can we ask for ALL uniform to be fully named.

Traffic Warden Update

As per our recent email communication, due to the ongoing number of complaints that are being received and passed on to the relevant departments within the Council/Highways, we have finally received news that we will have a Traffic Officer in regular attendance at school drop offs and pick ups, for the foreseeable future.

They will be issuing tickets to any parents dropping off on the yellow zig zags and/or parking inconsiderately. Unfortunately, one fine has already been issued.

We are extremely grateful for the Traffic Officers presence, helping to keep our children and community safe.

We ask that parents/guardians do their part and are mindful in how/where you park.

Thank you for your ongoing support.

Foundation Governor Vacancies

We are currently seeking to fill Foundation Governor vacancies on the Governing Body of Hordle CE (VA) Primary School.

The inclusion of Foundation Governors on the governing body is one of the distinguishing characteristics of a Church school and supports the school's distinctive religious ethos.

These vacancies must be filled by community members affiliated with a church of any denomination in the local area.

The role would suit someone with an interest in serving our community and supporting the needs of our school children.

If you would be interested in finding out more information on what this exiting opportunity entails, please click here.

Bag2School Collection

We are pleased to announce that we collected an impressive 706kg of donations from the Bag 2 School collection earlier this week. This amounted to a total of £282.40 for Patch funds! Thank you everyone that donated!

Next collection will be in the Autumn term. Please keep an eye on PATCH news for confirmation of date.

PATCH 'Own Clothes Day' Reminder

In preparation for the Summer Fair, please make note that there will be a further 'Own Clothes Day' on Friday 14th June, in return for chocolates/sweets for the sweet tombola.

We would like to remind parents/guardians of the term dates for the next couple of months.

Parents are strongly advised by the Government and Local Authority to avoid taking children out of school in term time because of the disruption it causes to their education.

Please refer to 3rd May 2024 Newsletter for further attendance guidance.
